MiLCIS 2018 was one for the record books!
MiLCIS 2018 was one for the record books! There was a huge four-day bump in, three days of conference and exhibition, over 80 presenters and key note speakers, 105 booths, 1750 expo attendees, over 7,500 meals and one giant marquee to serve them in.
The entire four-day bump in was streamlined from the beginning, with NCCC team members navigating the continuous flow of trucks and convoys of deliveries all arriving at the same time. The logistical planning and professional team certainly stepped up to the challenge, directing the traffic to specific drop off points and ensuring that every delivery reached its correct destination.
The conference started with many delegates commenting on the expanse of the space and how different it looked from previous years. Having exclusive use of the National Convention Centre Canberra (NCCC) really highlights the possibilities of accessibility, use of space and movement of the delegates. This year there was an additional marquee added to the Exhibition Hall for food and beverage service, leaving more room for the ever increasing exhibitor booths.
The turnaround happened in the blink of an eye! The set up from the day’s plenary sessions was transformed for the formal Dinner event that evening, in the same time it took the guests to ‘spruce up’ for the event.
The food was fantastic, the Executive Chef and his team worked effortlessly with the Event Services team and delivered a delicious menu enjoyed by all. The Royal Theatre is a great venue for Gala Dinners; the ambience, views and sight lines to the stage sure helped Paul Martell engage with the audience and share a few jokes.
And just as efficiently as the conference started, it was packed down with little remaining but happy delegates with memories of a very successful event, all looking forward to next year and what MiLCIS 2019 will have in store.
“I am writing to thank you and your team at the National Convention Centre Canberra for the professional and diligent manner in which they delivered MILCIS 2018, which we understand was the largest conference by participants and trade displays conducted at the NCCC.
At Consec we are gratified and consistently delighted at the standard of service delivery at the NCCC - from the high standard of food and its presentation at the conference and the gala dinner, to the swift action for any changes to timings and room layouts.
It was a pleasure to see all details of the event order were executed in accordance with our plan.
The back of house support for the bump in of the huge trade exhibition was a key characteristic of the manner in which your staff supported our project plan, for what was a complex and short time frame build.
The strong team work and attention to detail by your team is in no doubt as a result of your leadership and teamwork and is to be congratulated.
Please ensure you pass on our thanks and congratulations to the team.” said Barry Neame, CEM/Director Consec- Conferences and Event Management
