A little change by many can make a significant difference
The National Convention Centre (NCC) believes that a little change by many can make a significant difference in the future.
The Centre is committed to driving change and feels a responsibility to advocate good business practices, both within its own operation and also amongst the thousands of organisers, suppliers and delegates involved in events each year. Examples of on-going initiatives include:
Environment
- Reducing energy and water use
- Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and waste to landfill
The Centre holds Green Globe bronze accreditation, and was awarded ACTSmart Business Accreditation and a Keep Australia Beautiful grant for recycling initiatives.
Community
- Partnerships with local and regional wine and produce suppliers
- Support of local cultural and arts programs
- Donation of surplus food to OzHarvest
- Donation of conference supplies to orphanages
- Adoption of cage free eggs through the RSPCA’s egg program
The Centre was recognised with the ACT Chief Ministers Inclusion Award for commitment to inclusion of people with disabilities
