NCC Newsbite: Conference Organisers treated to progressive dinner

8 May 2012

On Friday 4 May, the National Convention Centre team welcomed 23 Professional Conference Organisers (PCO’s) from throughout Australia to enjoy a progressive dinner, demonstrating the creativity of the events production team and versatility of the venue.

The visit was part of a two ½ day familiarisation program hosted by the Canberra Convention Bureau specifically designed to update the PCO’s on Canberra’s new and refurbished venues and infrastructure developments.

Arriving in the Exhibition Hall via the loading bay – to showcase the ease of access – the PCO’s were greeted by canapés and a Cocktail Island in the centre of the vast event space. Escorted throughout the venue by local musicians, the group enjoyed their main course in the Ballroom surrounded by candle light and glittering chandeliers.

The night concluded with a dessert buffet in the Royal Theatre and an interactive Zumba performance. Before leaving, the PCO’s donned chef’s aprons and assisted food rescue organization OzHarvest, to pack the leftover buffet into the OzHarvest van.

Other community partners taking part in the evening were the Big Bang Ballers and the RSPCA who presented to the group a range of initiatives developed to benefit the local region.
