The National Convention Centre Canberra won the 'Best Meetings and Events Venue—General Division' award, with Stephen Wood, General Manager, saying the team won in part because they 'exceed customer expectations every day.'
'For us, this award celebrates the growth of the hotels, restaurants and bars that make Canberra a vibrant and contemporary destination for conferences and events. We’re delighted to be a key partner of the industry’s "Night of Nights",' says Stephen.
Brad Watts, Australian Hotel Association ACT General Manager, thanked the Centre for its generous support in making the awards night such a 'memorable success'.
The National Convention Centre Canberra is the largest purpose-built conference and event venue in the ACT, offering 15 flexible meeting spaces including a massive Exhibition Hall and several breakout rooms and theatrettes. It's managed by the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), which also manages the Crowne Plaza Canberra. The Crowne Plaza won three awards for its people and environmental practices: 'Best Restaurant Cookery Employee' (Prasantha Giragama, Executive Chef); ‘Best Front of House Employee' (Sunil Choudhary, Senior Guest Experience Manager); and 'Best Environmental Practice'.
