Australian War Memorial
Show your respect to those that served our nation
The Australian War Memorial was built to honour the memory of The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) and over 102,000 servicemen and women who died during war. It was opened in 1941 and is a national archive of war memorabilia and historical documents to help remember and understand the impact of war on Australian society. The memorial consists of three sections: the Commemorative Area, the Memorial’s galleries and the Research Centre.
Walk in the footsteps of Australian soldiers and serviceman and women as you explore the War Memorial. Place a red poppy on the Roll of Honour wall and experience a sound and light show featuring a Lancaster bomber night raid over Berlin. Crawl through a First World War trench, climb into a helicopter from the Vietnam War and explore the inside of a Cold War Submarine.
