SENSATIONAL! Is the word to describe the attendance level for this year’s Defence + Industry (D+I) Gala Awards and Conference – These premier Defence events are a highlight on the annual Defence and Defence Industry calendar. The event started with an impressive black tie gala awards dinner for 850 attendees followed by an interactive, thought provoking conference the following day that saw 950 delegates in attendance.

Energy levels and anticipation was high in the lead up to Gala Awards Dinner, the pre awards networking event allowed attendees to relax and regroup briefly before the evening event kicked off. Just as well because the Gala Awards Dinner was HUGE! The venue looked amazing and our in-house AV Company, Encore Event Technologies, delivered an outstanding set up with a HUGE 26.5m curved screen and impressive light show that surpassed amazing!

The Welcome to Country was culturally influential and performed by local Ngambri-Ngunnawal custodian Paul House that included a spectacular video of the region voiced in the traditional language followed by traditional dances, music, and smoke ceremony.

It didn’t stop there, the incredibly popular MC’s Rove McManus and Claire Hooper where delighted to award the Essington Lewis Awards and Trophies to recognise the excellence of project teams from Defence and Defence industry working in collaboration to overcome challenges. Rove and Claire used their MC flair with appropriate amounts of banter and wit, engaging with guests for the entire evening. Of course they did have a little help from the Royal Australian Navy Band from Sydney.

This year was no exception; we wanted to improve on last year’s extremely successful debut Gala Awards Dinner and we achieved that. Both the NCCC and Encore teams certainly delivered an event to remember.” said the Event Organisers.

The new improved seating in the Royal Theatre and Theatrettes was a welcomed upgrade that ensured delegates were comfortable during the conference sessions allowing more engagement in the content and with keynote speakers in the sessions throughout the day. The attendance was high and the content delivered was rich, informative, thought provoking and innovative from key Defence + Industry leaders. Interactive Q&A sessions and networking opportunities were peppered through the conference, ensuring face to face engagement opportunities for delegates.
