The National Convention Centre Canberra (NCCC) was the obvious choice for the TSANZSRS 2017 conference. The Centre is a perfect size and the benefits are vast for the exclusive use of the venue.
There is a certain degree of gravitas associated with hosting a conference in a nation's capital. That combined with excellent accessibility makes Canberra an attractive destination.
“As a Professional Conference Organiser (PCO), it was very easy to do business in Canberra. All of the organisations we dealt with from bus companies to
entertainment and theming companies were of a very high caliber and were cost-effective, reliable and efficient.” Said Kim Van Duiven, Conference Manager,
The Conference Company.
The National Convention Centre Canberra (NCCC) was the obvious choice for the TSANZSRS 2017 conference. The NCCC is a perfect size and the benefits are
vast for the exclusive use of the venue. “Security is less of an issue as all the delegates attending are TSANZSRS’s and can move freely around the
rooms and Exhibition Hall without the need for security guards to monitor access control. There is less need for signage and we have the flexibility
to use the venue to suit our needs. The lobby seating and little breakaway areas are well used by the delegates and if a small room is required for
a spur of the moment meeting there are plenty of areas available.” Kim said.
The NCCC is a 10-minute taxi ride from the award-winning Canberra Airport and 5 minutes’ walk from one of the city's largest shopping centres. Combine
this with light traffic flows; NCCC is a very accessible Convention Centre.
There were a significant number of Philippine and Singaporean delegates, who, along with Wellington based delegates, were able to take advantage of Singapore
Airlines’direct flights to Canberra.
Thought leaders, policy drivers and decision makers are positioned in the nation’s capital. This access to influence creates stand out events, stimulating
delegate interest and higher attendance.
“The prestige of being able to hold the gala function at Parliament House was a definite draw card for the TSANZ Gala Dinner; the Minister for Health was able to present the prestigious TSANZ Society Medal.” Said Kim.
“The Canberra Convention Bureau was incredibly helpful in assisting the Conference Committee to hold an off-site Community Lung Health Event. They offered
contacts and expertise which were hugely beneficial and much appreciated by the client.” Continued Kim.
